Any advice on what to check for used shocks/coilovers? Is this a good deal?
Realize that you will honestly only gain minimal “performance.” Understand that installing $3-5,000 shocks will not or ever make your truck into a trophy truck. It is manufactured for the highway not baja racing. Check for dents on all metal parts, heavy wear will indicate heavy usage.
Not a bad deal for full kit. Fronts alone are 2500. Check for any damage in the shaft or bent shaft. If they’re new shouldn’t have any issues with them.
How much are they brand new ? If it's a reasonable amount for the full kit brand new, I would Go that route. It may be worth to buy brand new to guarantee quality and assurance. Possibly even a warranty.
If the shocks happen to be worn, or wear out quick, what are you going to do ?
Look for oil leaks around the seals. And make sure the rebound is good
Zoom in on the photo and check for "dings and dents" in the shaft. Looks for rings of oil on the shaft after compression.
