  • Said to be very unreliable and they blow up and the dealerships fix is thicker oil. Not sure if it’s good.

  • Nope trash thr doin recall left an right

  • Does it have cylinder deactivation?

  • They are known as one of the worst engines gym has ever put out due to engineering problems. I believe they had something like a couple million of them recalled. This is a high mileage engine as well. Most chevys will go 150-250k nowadays and once you’ve hit 100k you’ll start working on it. I know from experience. The 5.3L with the AFM tuned out or the valves completely removed and replaced is bullet proof. It’s a beautiful gmc but I wouldn’t pay over 30k for it

  • If you’re able to do your own work, make good money, and don’t mind working on it from time to time then it isn’t really that bad. As he said I have 110k on mine and I’ve only had to do the thermostat the coolant expansion tank the ac condenser and the radiator. All started at 95k miles. Engine has been solid but a small tick has started so I’ll need lifters in the next 20-40k miles more than likely

  • I would rather have a honda civic

  • The 6.2L V8 is a beloved engine for its raw power and classic feel, but it's not without significant risks, especially for models from the last few years, with many users recommending an extended warranty or aftermarket AFM/DFM disablers to mitigate potential expensive problems

  • Not familiar with it , but l haven’t heard good things about it 😬

  • Engines lock up mostly because of main bearing spinning. Sometimes the piston bearing. If you do get one just be sure to get you an extended warranty.
