Check out the manual to see it’s full capabilities. Long story short, it works great with software (includes an “auto map” feature), and it also works great as a dawless midi controller. It sends more than just CC. You can use a computer or the device itself to program Sysex, CC, NRPN, and others. I used it to control different parameters of my Circuit synth. Additionally, I can use it with my MPC Live II with just one usb cable. The usb connection affords a couple of different MIDI routes. That means more than one 16-channel route. Pretty versatile. I love how I can sort of re-design my synths on it. This device is easy to use once you get the hang of it. Even editing controls is quick.
