Description

Awesome Vintage 1985 Made in Japan Fender Squier Telecaster E-Series Guitar with Upgraded Pearloid Pickguard. I do have the original single-ply white pickguard that I will include as well, but the upgraded 3-ply pickguard looks great IMO. It is honestly one of the best telecasters I've played, and don't let the Squier name fool you. The "E Series" came right after the vaunted "JV" Squier Japan series, and are often regarded as being comparable to many US Teles. Apparently, many of the early Japan made Fenders and Squiers were made with US timber for the bodies, necks and fretboards, and were just assembled in Japan with Japanese hardware and electronics. While I obviously, can't confirm if my particular Telecaster has US components, I can say anecdotally that this Telecaster plays and feels like it could be US made. Again, this ain't your nephew's Squier! The serial is E762578, which places this as being between 1984 and 1987. Previous owner said he thought it to be a 1985, so take that for what its worth, but hard to know for sure. The tone on this guitar is fantastic, and has a much brighter, crisper high-end than a lot of Teles I've played. Makes it a great axe for blues, country/folk and soloing for rock or pop. The neck is dead straight on it, and plays fast but has a nice comfortable feel. The Fender Japan Gotoh tuners stay in tune great, and the pickups are stock and have a classic twangy, spanky sound to them. Cosmetically, it has some wear, but not too much. Used but not abused, it's in solid shape for a 30-35 year old guitar. There is some light checking on the back of the body, and here are there. The biggest mark is a dent on the left side of the body, but he previous owner had it paint-matched and covered, and actually did a really good job on it, so it really doesn't stand out too much. There is also a small scratch near the output jack. But again, these are pretty minor strikes against it. I am asking $500 OBO and this thing is guaranteed to knock your socks right off!
