The donation was donated by Eduardo Costantini, founder of MALBA. Eduardo Costantini donated 200 works from his collection to MALBA to create the museum. The president of Argentina, Fernando de la Rua, participated in the official inauguration of the MALBA building. Costantini considers the donation to be the culmination of collecting.
