Description
Rörstrand was founded in the castle of Rörstrand in Stockholm, Sweden in 1726 under the direction of Johann Wolff, a German porcelain maker. This makes Rörstrand the second oldest brand of ceramics in Europe (after Meissen, 1709). The first decors were in cobalt blue, inspired by porcelain from China and other foreign countries. This piece hails from the “Titus” line in the 1960s (‘63-‘70 specifically), designed by Olle Alberius. Handpainted, it is a heavy ceramic low profile bowl/platter, aprox. 14” diameter, 2” depth. A truly striking piece of utilitarian art. Available in space #575 at Urban Americana on Coronado Ave. in Long Beach. Open 7 days/week, 10-6. Sales tax will be applied at purchase. Local delivery available for a fee.
