In1986 as part of Gorbachev's Glasnost program, the Hermitage Museum of Leningradand the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow sent an exhibition of some of theworld's great artistic pieces to Washington, DC's National Gallery of Art from May 1st to June 15th, 1986. This historic art exhibition showcased works of art from the greatest masters of Frenchimpressionist. Included in this memorable reveal was Paul Gauguin, "Aha Oe Feii?", from 1892, on loanfrom Moscow's Pushkin. Aha Oe Feii means "What? Are you jealous?" inthe native language of Tahiti, and reflects Gauguin's impressions during his stay in the South Pacific.
