Description
This is a striking 1975 woodcut art piece, self-carved, self-printed, signed & dated in pencil on the bottom margin by artist Yoshisuke Funasaka. The geometric-yet-abstract woodcut is in immaculate condition and comes beautifully matted & framed, featuring dazzlingly bright colors, and includes Funasaka's signature "lemon" to brighten the piece further. DIMENSIONS: Image 12"x12" - Framed 15.5"x15.5" Yoshisuke Funasaka (b. 1939) works in traditional Japanese woodblock & screenprinting. Funasaka is a classical master of modern Japanese abstract art, practicing a high style of geometric abstraction utilizing strikingly strong or pastel colors. When asked why he so prominently features lemons in his art, Funasaka replied: "I like the taste, I like the smell, I like the color. It represents freshness."
