Description
This is a vintage 3/4 violin made in February 1979 in Moscow, RSFSR (Soviet Union) — serial number 6957. The instrument is preserved in good playable condition and comes complete with its original bow, two bridges (LUXE), rosin, and a hard SKB case (Made in USA) with a cosmetic crack near the hinge (see photo). Size: 3/4 (perfect for students or smaller players) • Year: 1979 (dated “2-79” on the label) • Origin: Moscow, USSR • Body: solid spruce top and maple back with warm amber-brown varnish • Fingerboard, pegs, and chinrest: ebony or ebony-stained hardwood • Tailpiece: composite with four fine tuners • Bow: included • Rosin: Kaplan ARTCRAFT and a second piece (vintage amber rosin) • Case: SKB hard shell, interior lined with black plush; hinge cracked but functional The violin shows light cosmetic wear consistent with age but no major cracks or repairs. The tone is clear and resonant — an excellent example of late-Soviet student craftsmanship. The case has a crack near one hinge (see photos) but still closes and protects the instrument well.
