It was designed as part of a home stereo system for recording and playing compact cassette tapes with higher sound quality than most consumer decks of that era. Description The TEAC A-650 is a front-loading stereo cassette recorder/player built with a heavy metal chassis and analog controls typical of 1970s hi-fi equipment. It includes Dolby B noise reduction, analog VU meters, and push-button transport controls for play, record, rewind, and fast-forward. It uses a two-motor transport system—one motor for the capstan (tape speed control) and one for the reels—designed to improve durability and maintain stable tape speed.
