We have for sale here two varieties of Clumping Giant Timber Bamboo, Bambusa oldhamii and Bambusa sp. 'Hirose'. If you want to grow clumping bamboo with the fattest canes possible in Northern California these are the two bamboos for you to consider. Both are good for eating the bamboo shoots. These two bamboo varieties look the same and the Hirose grows canes that are a bit fatter and taller. Bambusa oldhamii (a.k.a. Giant Timber Bamboo) grows 30 to 40 feet tall in Northern California. It grows big fat canes up to 3 - 4 inches in diameter. We recommend you give at least a 4' diameter circle of dirt for each plant, or more. The available plants include 15 gallon pots for $295. The plants are in stock now and there is a limited inventory available. Bambusa sp 'Hirose' grows 35 to 50 feet tall in Northern California. It grows fast and makes canes up to about 5 inches in diameter. We recommend you give at least a 4' diameter circle of dirt for each plant, or more.
