Description

I have done a lot of work on this lovely Cal 34-III over the past six years. She’s ready to go cruising, and she sails beautifully. If you’re looking for a capable, great sailing boat with lots of cool upgrades and you enjoy the vintage style, this is it. Head down to Mexico in comfort! The boat has new B&G electronics. Vulcan 9 chart plotter connected to a depth, speed, temperature transducer, wireless wind instrument and Raymarine autopilot. The Westerbeke 30 engine has been reliable. The boat is very dry inside. The interior is clean and has no bad smells. This vessel is ready to go with room for the next owner to add their own improvements. I have upgraded so many things recently, and there's no way I'd get the return on investment. This boat is an excellent value. The v-berth is the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The widest part is wider than a king bed! The boat is set up very comfortably. The solar runs the electric head, Purasan EX treatment system and refrigerator/freezer. There is a 400ah battery bank powered by 350 watts of solar. I have never come close to draining the batteries. The system status can be viewed via the VictronConnect app that shows SmartShunt and SmartSolar MPPT data. There are two more batteries that run the house accessories and start the engine. They are charged off of dock power or engine alternator. The Purasan EX system is great, because you don’t need a stinky holding tank. Waste is treated and pumped overboard legally. At the dock, plug in the hose and have on-demand fresh water. You can feel confident in the plumbing because of the aquapex water lines. Fill the big water tank under the v-berth for going out sailing or cruising. The Cal 34 is the sister of the famous Cal 40 that has won the Transpac race four times. The Cal 34 was designed as a more manageable sized version of the 40. This is the later version with improved interior layout and rig. I moved to So Cal and after traveling back and forth for 5 years to sail and enjoy the Bay, I found a boat closer to where I live. It will be difficult to let this one go. Here are the things I’ve done off the top of my head. There are more to add to the list, I am sure.
