Description

Vintage circa-1970s crewel embroidery depicting the Talavi Morning Kachina, also known as the Morning Singer Kachina. Colorful dimensional yarn embroidery is worked on natural burlap and displayed in a decorative wood-grain and gold-tone frame marked “Made in Japan.” This identifies the subject, but does not mean the embroidery was Native American-made. I would use crewel embroidery, not “needlepoint,” because crewel is the more accurate technique.
