Refinished surfboard coffee table with slatted magazine shelf by Grete Jalk c. 1960s. At 63 inches in length, it has the scale to pair with a large sofa or sectional and fits perfectly with Danish modern and minimalist aesthetic. Every piece of the table, from the tapered legs to the rounded slats, has not a sharp edge in sight. Fittings disguised as brass inlay and exposed hardware on the legs make the practical part of the design. This version of the table, with its gracefully sloping flanged edges, is rarer than the flat top and better showcases the precision of Danish craftsmanship. Refinished to perfection without stain, highlighting the natural color of the teak and its beautiful grain. Despite 60 years of use this table shows no signs of its age.
