Cannonball Big Bell Stone Series Baritone Saxophone

Description

This was my middle school and most of high school baritone saxophone, purchased in 2015. Plays great. Comes with two cases (pictured), the original and an SKB TSA-approved case with locking keys (these run $500 new). Total unit price is taking into account everything available original and added to the horn. Mechanically, the horn is in good condition and has no major issues there. The player will notice the ease of tonal control the saxophone provides, allowing for dark, woody tones in classical settings and bright, jazzy tones in pops settings. The horn has been subjected to the typical wear and tear of single-owner high schooler use, including a healthy case of belt rash (finish wear on the section of the body that makes contact with the belt and harness clips) and various scuffs. However, the mechanical integrity of the horn has never been impacted by this. The horn has had a few minor dents, but they have been rolled out by professional technicians. The only noticeable remains of these are small ripples in the otherwise smooth, metallic body. This cannonball comes with both original necks (the black neck is missing the decorative stone), the original body harness, and other accessories including: -Metallic joint cap for neck receiver joint -Original Cannonball mouthpiece, modeled after a Meyer baritone mouthpiece -Original ligature (missing one screw, still works) and mouthpiece cover -Felt mouthpiece/accessory cover -A locking SKB travel case with key ($500 new today) -The original Cannonball backpack strap case is included. One foot peg is missing and one wheel is not in the greatest condition, but it still will stand on its own, wheels well, and protects the horn. Original shoulder strap included too. -Cannonball micro-fleece cleaning cloth -Neck and reed Velcro storage pouch -D’Addario 8-reed case for tenor and baritone reeds Original paperwork includes model number tag, care and limited (expired) warranty, certificate of hand engraving, and information on the semi-precious stones embedded in the keys. Before a purchase is made, I will make sure the horn has been tuned up from Miguel Maldonado out of Portland. I will have him include a list of things that he fixed as well as potential long- term maintenance he would suggest for the horn. Regular Services Performed. Mechanics/shops listed in order most frequently used to least frequently used. - Taylor Andersen at Canby Music - Miguel Maldonado (Portland, OR) - Wally’s Music (Oregon City, OR) - Beacock Music (Vancouver, WA) - Carl at River City Music (Vancouver, WA) Relatively unique to Cannonball baritones, there is a key guard for the usually exposed and delicate high E and F palm key valves. The saxophone has the range of a typical professional-model baritone saxophone—that is, from the low A paddle key to the high F# key. The saxophone performs surprisingly well in the altissimo register. Because of its nickel plating, the saxophone might seem heavier to some who are used to playing brass-lacquered horns (and especially to unlacquered players). Since the visual condition of the horn is not as great as its bones, it’s noteworthy that the horn provides everything a student or a gigging musician could need—versatility, ease of playing, and you don’t necessarily need to worry about scratches on a new finish. A student using this horn will quickly adapt to a model such as a Selmer Mark VI or a Keilwerth SX90II. A full ad with over 30 photos of everything included is available upon request.
