I went in today to look at a truck that I had been watching for about a month. It was originally posted at $41,999 on their site. When we arrived, we were greeted by a salesman who was respectful, fairly new (about 6 months in), and provided good service. He took us on a test drive, and as expected with any used vehicle, there were some defects. However, you’d expect room for negotiation when there’s visible paint damage, bumper damage, and even water damage from an improperly sealed light. The bed liner may need replacing and the back seats were still wet, plus the rear bumper had a dent.

The salesman told us the truck undergoes a full inspection to guarantee quality, but when we sat down to negotiate based on the issues we found, the general manager came out and gave us the runaround. He insisted that any truck would have defects, yet seemed unaware of the specific damage—despite us having the CarFax in hand. I made it clear that we liked the truck, but the price reflected a pristine condition according to Kelley Blue Book, not one with multiple cosmetic and water-related issues.

When we asked if they would repair the defects or lower the price, we were told the price wouldn’t need to go up—an absurd response. I pressed further, asking how they claimed to only profit $1,300 at that price and said I’d be willing to negotiate if they could prove it. Instead of answering, the GM raised his voice, dodged questions, and became erratic.

Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. It also didn’t help that one of the employees mentioned they are just a rebrand of Alvarez Auto Sales, which had multiple lemons and poor reviews.

Please do your research on both the dealership and the vehicle you’re interested in so you don’t end up dealing with what we experienced.
