Description
Beautiful Ember Red 1963 Chevrolet Corvair with a new Clarke's convertible top, a new custom interior and a fully rebuilt engine from Mike's Corvair in Mission Viejo. The correct 102 hp engine is mated to a properly working 2 speed automatic "Power glide" transmission. The following has been done in the last 6 years of ownership; 1. Fully rebuilt engine by Mike's Corvair Parts including remanufactured heads by Engine Machine Services in Inglewood. $6500. (More specific information on the engine rebuild can be provided upon request). 2. New Clarke's Corvair top $1600 3. Brakes job including new master cylinder. $900 4. New custom upholstery and door panels $2500 5. Correct two spinner wire wheel covers $250. 6. New vent window rubbers $600 7. New pitman arm bushing $100 8. New door felts (fuzzies) $300 9. Rebuilt '65 carburetors (best carbs) $500 10. Pertronix ignition $150 11. Upgraded to higher output self regulating alternator from old low output generator. $300 12. Rechomed front bumper $400 13. Repaint in Ember Red. Done by previous owner. I rate the paint at a 7.5 to 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. Very shiny and smooth base coat/clear coat paint with good blocking and adhesion after 6 plus years. Some chips that have been touched up and decent color sanding and blocking. I judge it to be a $5000 paint job. 14. New as of 2 years ago BF Goodrich Silver town radial white wall tires $1400 installed (these tires are available at an additional $650). The tires that come with it at the asking price are the 185/80r13 thin white walls pictured. 15. Greased front and rear wheel bearings $100 16. There are no rust spots on the body and the floor boards have no rust through. 17. The core car prior to refurbishment is worth between $3500 and $4500. 18. New KYB shocks front and back $400 All that is about $23k to get it to its current state. Nothing needs to be done to drive and enjoy this car. But...more could be done to take it to a higher level...such as ...the front trunk could be refurbished, Pillar rubbers, etc...you can inspect the car and make your own determination. The listed price is firm. If you don't have the asking price in cash, in person, kindly do not consider this car. The car will be sold locally (Southern California) and only to someone I have met in person. Dads of teenagers in Huntington Beach...this makes a great highschool car for your 16 to 18 year old high schooler...not too fast, handles and stops well, good visibility, unique, not too expensive, rugged and simple, a lot of metal surrounding them, all parts and service is readily available locally and affordably....My 19 year old son drove a '62 Corvair coupe in highschool and was the "toast of the school". He is now in college (in Riverside) and it is still his daily driver. If the advertisement is up, it is AVAILABLE. Thanks
