Undergoing chemical changes during firing, the glaze produces one-of-a-kind patterns and luminous, variable warm grey colors with taupe undertones. As it cascades down the plate, the glaze transitions from light to dark, peppered throughout with unique markings and crackles. This intentional and desirable crazing occurs during firing, and the craquelure can develop more complexity over the years whenever the raw natural materials expand and contract.
