Description

Antique Oversized Circular C.F. Monroe Wavecrest Art Glass Jewelry Box - 19th Century A beautiful oversized circular Wavecrest jewelry box, crafted by the C.F. Monroe Company in the late 19th century. * Material & Design: Made of opaque white opal ware glass, this piece features a molded swirl design and hand-painted floral enamel decoration in soft tones. The box is fitted with an ornate gilt brass mount and hinged lid, a hallmark of Monroe's fine Wavecrest craftsmanship. * Form: Oversized circular dresser box, highly desirable and less common than smaller, standard forms. * Dimensions: Approximately 7" diameter × 3.75" tall. • Condition: Very good antique condition with no cracks or chips. Hinge functions properly; light wear consistent with age. Originally used as a dresser or vanity box for jewelry and personal treasures, this oversized circular design stands out as a rare and elegant example of Victorian American art glass. Collector's Note: Oversized circular Wavecrest boxes are scarce and sought-after, making this a standout addition to any collection. * Era: Circa 1890s-1900s * Maker: C.F. Monroe Company (Meriden, Connecticut, USA)
