Internal frame, Padded straps

Mountainsmith Paragon Backpack...everything that you would expect from a midrange backpack can be found on the Paragon; wide, comfortable shoulder straps, full length padding on the back, load levelers/stabilizers top and bottom, a full length plastic sheet frame, compression straps, smooth non-abrasive fabric, a padded hip belt and bomb-proof construction. The shoulder straps are pliable yet well-padded and covered in a breathable mesh. The “frame” of the pack is a semi-rigid 1/8” plastic sheet that covers the entire inner face of the pack, top to bottom and left to right. No gear will be poking you in the back and none of your sweat will soak through to the gear. There is zippered access through the top of the pack to the upper main compartment of the bag. Unzip the waterproof zipper and voila! You don’t have to open the whole pack to access your gear. The pack has a wide zippered compartment with compression straps at the bottom.
