We donʼt use an agitator/ crank as we recommend using liners in the solids container, for easy removal of solid waste. We also want to keep the TRAVELOO as simple as possible. We have found that you donʼt need to stir the waste. How often do I need to empty the solids container? The solids container will need to be emptied every 20 to 30 uses, if toilet paper is added to the solids container, considerably longer if toilet paper is disposed of in a separate bin. Do I need to add sawdust? The jury is still out on this 1. Traditionally wood shavings or sawdust were used in compost toilets to firstly soak up urine and secondly act as a cover material to mask the smell. They do not promote composting. The TRAVELOO is a urine separating toilet so there is no need to soak up urine as this is diverted either to a bottle orexternally to a soak-away or larger external container. Some of our users do prefer to use sawdust - if this is the case, it will do no harm to the TRAVELOO.
