BHM-Unlisted; Eimer-1139A. Unsigned, but commonly ascribed to T. Halliday. Diameter: 74mm. Obverse: Map of North and South American (Western Hemisphere) with lines of latitude and longitude crossing globe; Reverse: Map of Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia (Eastern Hemisphere) with lines of latitude and longitude crossing globe. A masterpiece work, this medal accurately depicts the world's geography at the beginning of the 19th century. Despite the noted wear and a couple spots of smudges,, this example otherwise presents great quality to the white metal, which often ages rather poorly. On this specimen, all design facets, of which there are many, are clearly and cleanly depicted.
