Tonga Handmade Ceremonial Handmade Mat

This is a mint condition vintage (about 1995) very special ceremonial mat. It is very unusual to see dyed mats using any natural color due to the difficulty of working with the vegetable fruit juices and the fiber. This is a magnificent raspberry/hot pink color with variations caused by the process. Measures 90" long by 24" wide with an additional 6" fringe on both long sides. The ends do not have fringe, but are intricately woven to end the piece. The " curly" fringe is considered highly desirable. I have carefully preserved this piece in a refrigerated no smoking home with no sun exposure so the color is vibrant and the condition is pristine. It has never been used. I must let it go.
