These two gorgeous wall plaques of beautiful women with long flowing gowns, long flowing hair, and stylized roses with deco elements capture those styles magnificently! Reminiscent of the amazing crisp and clean designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the famed Scottish designer, these two plaques were made by Oliver Tupton in the cold cast bronze process and a beautiful 'aged' patina has been added to give them depth. One woman, facing right, holds a single rose while topping her head back as if to smell it. Her neat hair is in a twisted bun with two long strands flowing to the bottom, decorated at intervals with cascading roses. Her billowing gown is smooth and lovely. To her right is a beautiful stylized rose tree and to her left are long rods with graceful deco elements. The second woman, facing left, has a similar stylized billowing gown, with two lovely roses in her neatly combed hair and four more deco roses cascading down her gown. To her left are seven deco-style rose bushes with lovely vertical elements, while to her right are a series of more vertical lines with an oval element. Both of these were hard to photograph to truly capture the elegance and beauty as well as the softness and grace and warmth of the bronze. Each plaque measures a nice 9-1/2" high by 5-1/4" wide (245 mm by 133 mm) and are about 5/8" thick -- a really great size for display! The backs are covered in a deep red-brown velvet and each has a triangle metal hanging loop at the top. Both have a maker's mark "O. Tupton" in their tops, if you look closely.
