Excellent, like new condition Purchased from Southwest Art Gallery ✨ only &10 (valued over $100) Mid-Century Native American Navajo Hand-coiled wedding basket 12” inch wide Traditional Navajo design, which often includes symbolic color natural fibers and a break in the pattern, or "spirit line," that leads from the center to the rim. These baskets were made from sumac, willow, or yucca and were used in important ceremonial functions, such as weddings and healing ceremonies. Navajo people learned the craft of basket making from Pueblo families. The natural, earthy tones and intricate coiling technique are characteristic of Native American basketry.
