Unique Hand-built Wooden Tiny Dream Home on Wheels This unique tiny house is built from scratch on a steel utility trailer by a local journeywoman Dwell Magazine featured carpenter. This project started as a “dream home” hobby which makes it very rare and extraordinary. It is more like a “yacht on wheels.” All you need is an extension cord and a potable water hose, and you are completely set for full-time living. Built over a three-year period, the design is a hybrid of a vintage trailer and a wooden tiny house. The interior is all wood, utilizing Baltic birch walls and cabinets with maple accents. The exterior is covered in western red cedar with a natural stain, which over time has settled into a beautiful weathered finish. It features a red metal barn roof. This vehicle isn’t made as a travel trailer but more of a stationary home built on wheels for transport. Perfect for a weekend retreat on your country property or in the back yard as an extra rental unit or guest house. She’ll make the perfect cozy romantic bed & breakfast hideaway. She’s small and nimble, fitting easily in driveways or backyard. The weight is 3500 lbs. I’ve towed her miles with my Chevy Colorado truck. Her interior is cozy and filled with windows to take advantage of the sunlight. The unique design makes extremely efficient use of space, providing plentiful cabinet space and modern appliances. There are electric outlets throughout and beautiful electric lighting. The house is completely insulated with rigid foam insulation holding heat exceptionally well in winter and keeping out the heat in the summer. There are nine insulated Anderson 100 series awning style windows providing beautiful natural light. The stove and water heater run on propane, and I’ve just had a Rinnai tankless water heater installed which provides hot and cold water in both the kitchen and bathtub. The kitchen features a three-burner Magic Chef propane stove and oven, a large beautiful modern sink, and a Magic Chef refrigerator with freezer. A removeable shelf between the bedroom and kitchen creates a galley style layout for added counterspace. The bedroom has a full-sized memory foam mattress. There’s a small closet and ample hooks throughout for coats and jackets. A 3 foot long/2-foot-deep galvanized bathtub is built-in, features a wooden top for more counter space. There’s a small closet with a cassette-type toilet which can easily be upgraded to a composting toilet. The dinette converts to a small double bed, has a removeable table for more space if desired. There are ample bookcases and nooks and crannies for all your stuff. Her name is Maxine.
