Description

French gilt bronze mantel clock, also known as an ormolu clock, timeframe roughly 1840. Clock Maker (stamped on back): Vor Dewint Her. 156 A Paris Condition: The clock is structurally sound. The clock does not work at this time and the glass bezel cover for the watch face is missing and would need to be replaced. Material: It is made of gilt bronze, which is a gold-finished bronze used in decorative art objects from the 18th and 19th centuries. Style: The clock features a classical figure, possibly a hunter or a mythological figure, standing atop the clock face, which is set within an ornate, possibly Rococo or Louis XVI style, base.
