Description
THIS MODEL IS $190 ON AMAZON NOW AND THIS IS IN THE SAME CONDITION There is not a rub, scratch or anything on it. Complete set ready to play. Before you spend almost 3 times this for a "new with tags" violin, make sure the student will stick with the violin more than a few weeks or months. Get a much finer violin for less than an entry level. Size: 4/4---Solid Hand-Carved Spruce Top---Solid Hand-Carved Maple Back & Sides---Beautiful Inlaid Purfling--'Ebony Fingerboard, Chin Rest, Pegs and Tailpiece With 4 Fine Tuners---Mongolian Horsehair Bow Most violins I sell from Cecilio/Mendini are the 100 or 200 series. In this one, the chin rest, fingerboard, pegs and tailpiece are ebony and not plastic. This model is teacher-approved for beginners to intermediate students and is perfect for any player until they get to a level where a violin that costs 8 to 10 times more actually sounds better. For all beginners, a $10,000 violin will not play any better than a $35 one. When you or your student is ready to move up, you can list and sell this one for what you paid as long as you keep it just as it is. Since its made for students, it has a finger guide but rather than using tape lines, its a plastic sleeve that is easy to read and does not harm the finish. This model has hand-carved solid spruce top, hand-carved maple back and si0des finished with beautiful antique varnish and inlaid purfling. It has fine tuners set in the tailpiece as well. The finish is BEAUTIFUL and THAT is where you see a big difference between violins. The $100 model will not have the same deep honey toned gloss as this model. The included bow is Brazilwood with unbleached Mongolian horsehair. The hairs shed or break through use and it is normal to have many that are trimmed away. Even brand new ones can have a loose one or may lose 1 or 2 the first time it is tightened. AVOID TOUCHING THE HAIRS as skin oils will affect the playing and darken them. Full sized violins are usually for ages 11 and up. It goes by arm length and there are many charts online. As this is the largest size, once it fits, it will always fit. You dont want a violin that is too large as your fingers will not reach the strings properly, so if this is for a child, you can measure their arm (look online) to know if this will work. I can send you a site to properly measure an arm. INCLUDES a carry case with shoulder strap, padded shoulder rest, rosin and a bow. You should always have at least 1 set of strings for a spare. There are good string sets for $5.50 delivered. German silver wound strings. YOU CAN SEE IT AND TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT
