Very rare and remarkable vintage transitional Gretsch "bop" outfit, most likely from 1954. All drums have 3-ply shells with roundover bearing edges, silver sealer interiors, single flange "stick chopper" hoops, and classic/streamline lugs. All shells sport theiroriginal white marine pearl wrap in fantastic condition, which has aged beautifully! Excellent unrestored condition - a well loved but well cared for kit that has stood the test of time. Details: 13x9" rack tom: fully intact, undamaged, and in round. Mounting hardware and both mufflers present, intact, and fully functional.Wrap is tight throughout and along seam, with one surface crack between lug and seam. A couple areas of scuff/grime in badge area; might come out with cleaning. Light pitting/corrosion on chrome and one small slight outward bend in top hoop. Both heads newer Remo. 16x16" floor tom: undamaged and in round, fully intact with the exception of original mufflers: one is attached but slightly loose (may easily be tightened with some disassembly), and the other is complete but off the drum currently (see Ziploc bag in hardware pics). Wrap and seam are excellent with only a couple small scuffs that may come out with cleaning. Light pitting/corrosion on chrome but overall very good. Original Gladstone leg mounts fully present and functional! One small bend in top hoop. Newer remo top head, original calfskin bottom. 20x14" bass drum: fully intact, undamaged, and in round. Both hoops and inlays are in fantastic condition with some areas of wear/surface grime but no structural damage. Wrap and seam in amazing condition. Minor pitting/rust/corrosion on hardware. All original claws and T rods present with some minor bending in a few. All hardware present and in great condition including spurs/spur mounts, cymbal arm/mount, and all components of rare 40s-era flat trap rail + toothed tom mount assembly. Newer vintage Evans heavy rock batter head, old ripped reso. 14x6.5 Dixieland snare: earlier drum grandfathered into the kit, and a fantastic match. Overall excellent condition on shell, wrap, and hardware, excepting several bends where the claws attach on the bottom hoop. All original tension rods and claws. Super cool strainer with hexagonal tensioning screw and matching butt plate. Original 12-strand wires with one broken but still attached. Edges and snare beds are nearly flat on this shell. Original calfskin bottom head, newer precision top head (was the best fit out of what I had). Hardware: all legs, spurs, screws, and tom mounting hardware included. Period correct Gretsch floating action pedal and Gretsch hi hat stand, as well as a slingerland Buddy Rich hi hat stand (missing top/seat) and vintage snare stand. Original cymbal arm, bass drum anchor, and Gretsch tuning key. Sleigh bells, small cowbell, wood block, and 3 sweet pairs of vintage brushes. This is a killer kit! I did almost nothing to it after buying it, short of changing out a few heads so I could play it a bit. I have all the heads I removed but many are damaged. This kit should be in the hands of someone willing to restore it, which I currently do not have the gumption to do. Even so, it's pretty stunning in its current condition, and would be a phenomenal addition to the arsenal of any discerning player or collector. Comes with everything covered/pictured in listing as well as a set of vintage Artistic canvas bags in fair condition and a trap case for snare and hardware in fair condition.
