Description
This is a very large, hand painted plate decorated with a portrait of Queen Louise of Prussia. Seems to be based on a famous painting by Gustav Karl Ludwig Richter (1(contact info removed)). She is wearing a diaphanous white dress and ermine-lined coronation cloak. Queen Louise (1(contact info removed)) was wife of King Frederick William III. Napoleon famously gave her a double-edged compliment when he called her, “the only real man in Prussia.” This plate measures approximately 13” in diameter and 1 3/4” high. It is framed with wide, embossed and molded gold trim. The colors are vibrant and attractive. Has 2 holes with a wire on the reverse for hanging. This plate has been in my family for decades. It is time for it to be cherished and loved by another family. It is in excellent condition with no issues whatsoever. No cracks, scratches, chips, crazing, repairs etc. Never exposed to direct sunlight. Cash only. Pickup in New Hyde Park, Nassau County, Long Island.
