Description

Artist: Bernard Buffet Medium: Print Year: 1967 Condition: Excellent Dimensions: Image size 8.25" L x 11.5" H. Frame dimensions: 12.75" L x 0.75" W x 16.75" H. Weight: 2.4 lbs. Framing: Vintage frame from the 1970's. Buffet was born in Paris, France, 'Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur'. He was a painter of Expressionism and a member of the anti-abstract art group 'L'homme Témoin' (the Witness-Man) and studied art at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (National School of Fine Arts) and worked in the studio of the painter Eugène Narbonne. In 1973 the Bernard Buffet Museum was founded by Kiichiro Okano, in Surugadaira, Japan. He created more than 8000 paintings & many prints as well. Buffet committed suicide at his home in Tourtour, southern France, on 4 October 1999. He was suffering from Parkinson's disease and was no longer able to work.
