Description
For sale: Restored mid-century violin. No label but likely a Strad copy. Found it at an antique mall in horrible shape. I rebuilt it with all these things new: fingerboard, bridge, sound post, nut, saddle, dominant strings, bass bar, graduated top plate, shaved pegs, tailpiece and modern tailgut. The finish was completely shot so I revarnished with oil varnish. (For those who had a visceral reaction to the refinishing, no worries. It has been transformed to a very nice instrument). :o). There are no cracks or loose seams. Sides are moderately flamed. The one piece back and the neck are strongly flamed. The setup is 330mm string length, 34 mm height at the bridge, 55mm string after-length. The violin has a clear and strong tone and speaks easily. Perfect for an advancing student or for players who want to take a violin outside or for gigs. The tone is even across the strings and the E string has a lot of power and clarity in the upper register. Comes with a serviceable case but no bow. I will have a practice bow when we do a meetup. Will consider REASONABLE offers. You will likely not find a violin that sounds and plays this good for the money. Cash and Pick up only. Will do a meetup in the Tacoma area.
