1923 "Horseblanket" $1 Silver Certificate-- HI-GRADE VINTAGE CURRENCY!

For sale is a very cool 1923 $1 Large Note Silver Certificate in awesome high grade condition. Silver Certificates were a type of old currency where any person could take the Certificate into a Federal Reserve Bank and exchange the Certificate for the value of that denomination in silver. So if you have a $1 Silver Certificate, the bank would exchange it for $1 worth of silver. You could also spend it just like any other U.S. bill. The reason is it called the Large Note is because the size of the bill is much larger than a standard $ 1 bill. So large, in fact that its nickname is "the Horse Blanket." There were a couple different varieties of these printed in 1923. This one is the "Speelman & White" variety which refers to the signatures on the front of the note. The seals and serial numbers on the note is blue. Usually when you find these notes they are in pretty-well circulated condition. But whenever you find them in crisp high grade condition it is always something special. As you can see from the pics this certificate is in great condition. The note is very crisp and firm and the green and blue colors and white background are bold and vibrant. It does have folds in it, which is common with these notes because they were so big people had to fold them several times to carry them because they didn't fit in standard wallets.
