Koransha Fukagawa Antique 1910s Arita Blue White Cup & Saucer Set REPAIRED Petite, rare and porcelain-perfect — classic Japanese artistry in miniature form. Defects & imperfections - please check pictures made under the bright light & magnification: - kiln dust (pepper spots) inside the cup - part of the manufacturing process - cup handle was cracked & accurately repaired using porcelain glue - ready to be used Pictures are part of the description, please check them & let me know if you require additional ones. Fascinating Fun Facts: • Decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with plum blossoms and fan motifs — both traditional Japanese symbols. • The design features classic kikko (tortoise shell) and ume (plum blossom) motifs, both symbols of longevity and renewal in Japanese art. • Koransha company is also known as "The Company of the Scented Orchid". It was founded by Ezaiemon Fukagawa to produce tableware for export, and was originally made by the Fukagawa Koransha potters of Arita around 1875. The company served as purveyor for the Imperial Household since 1910 and is still run by the Fukagawa family. • Arita ware, from the Kyushu region, has been one of Japan’s premier porcelain traditions since the 1600s. • Demitasse cups like this were used for espresso, sake, or as collectible tea service additions.
