Description

A very well loved 19” 1986 Specialized Rockhopper. I was ripping this thing around as my primary XC/Family trail bike but it’s honestly just too big for me. The good: * Vintage bike, springy steel frame * All original Shimano “Deerhead” components. * New-ish aluminum pedals but I have the original Shimano PD-MX15 pedals but one needs new bearings * New-ish Kool-Stop dual compounds in the front and Salmon in the back * New-ish Bontrager trail tires *New-ish locking grips The not-so-good: *Seatpost is mega stuck, I tried to get it out using all sorts of methods that won’t damage the seat tube but alas it won’t come out. Probably going to need drano to get it out. * there is a fair amount of surface rust and the handlebar chrome is completely turned to rust. I am including a specialized aluminum flat bar as a replacement. *friction shifters work amazing but it will probably need new cables and some lubrication to the front derailleur *Strong seatpost head was marred a bit while trying to remove seatpost. *bottom bracket clicks when pedaling hard under load. Will probably need repacking or rebuilding sometime in the near future. All in all this is an amazing bike and will make an awesome project. It runs well enough as is but definitely could use some love. I would would restore it myself and keep riding it but it’s just too big for me. All the parts are mostly original except for the saddle (WTB), the locking grips, and the pedals. Original Shimano pedals included, as well as aluminum handlebar. Thanks!
