It has both a true traditional single coil electric pickup mounted on the body and a traditional acoustic pickup under the saddle. With the flip of a switch it goes from sounding like a normal acoustic electric to a true electric capable of playing lead, or turn up the on-board gain control for a more distorted electric sound. You can also set the switch to mix and experiment with acoustic, clean electric, overdrive extortion or mix and experiment . On board tuner, 3 band EQ, Ibanez M300 pre-amp, built in chorus, reverb,.. this produces these effects using a plain guitar amp. Doesn't need a modeling amp.
