The ED66 CF features a carbon fiber optical tube, which is lighter and more thermally stable than metal to deliver crisp views even when temperatures fluctuate. The telescope's rotatable Crayford focuser made of CNC-machined aluminum provides dual-speed focus adjustment perfect for dialing in fine details of celestial and terrestrial targets. Compared to the coarse focus knob, the smaller fine-focus knob adjusts focus at a rate of 10:1, which really comes in handy when checking out rugged craters and valleys on the Moon, or when scanning distant horizons for wildlife. The Crayford focuser design eliminates pesky backlash and image-shift, so all your views will be sharp and steady. The ED66 refractor comes with a 14mm focal length, 1.25" wide-field 65� eyepiece, which yields 29x magnification when used with the carbon fiber refractor. You can use other 1.25" size eyepieces with the ED66 to achieve different magnifications. For example, the ED66 CF refractor's 400mm focal length means using an optional 10mm eyepiece will yield 40x magnification (400/10 = 60). The included Deluxe 45� Correct-Image Diagonal boasts a large, 27mm clear aperture and a multi-coated prism which provides clear, high-contrast views that are right-side-up and correct left-to-right. A built-in mounting plate with threaded �"-20 socket provides versatile mounting options for the telescope. An included hard carry case with die-cut foam insert keeps the ED66 CF telescope and included accessories safe and clean during storage and transport.
