Description

vintage No. 1 ice block tongs, likely made of cast iron. These tongs were used in the pre-refrigeration era to carry large blocks of ice, which were harvested from frozen lakes and ponds. The tongs feature a simple design with two curved arms connected by a pivot, allowing them to grip and lift heavy ice blocks.
