Description
The Morgan Silver Dollar was a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, and then again in 1921. It was the first standard silver dollar minted after the passage of the Coinage Act of 1873, which effectively ended the free coinage of silver and the production of the standard silver dollar. The coin is named after its designer, George T. Morgan. The obverse depicts a profile of Lady Liberty, while the reverse features an eagle with outstretched wings. The 1891 Morgan Silver Dollar was produced at multiple mints, including Philadelphia, New Orleans, and San Francisco. The value of the coin varies based on its mint mark, condition, and rarity. Coins in better condition or with specific mint marks tend to be more valuable to collectors.
