Description

For sale is a Gorgeous Antique Wood Fireplace Mantel salvaged from a Century Farm Homestead in Knox County Tennessee. It features heavy, solid wood, stunning carved accenting / detail, and original painted finish. The mantel is strong, sturdy, and would be a great piece to refinish. Please view the photos of the mantel to become acquainted with the character, condition, and any imperfections. Asking $481 or Best Offer. This is a pre-1830’s fireplace mantel surround. It is a classic architectural element that would add charm and character to any interior space. The top curved shape of the mantel is very appealing in any home décor setting. The Arched opening on this mantle is very rare and the solid wood construction appears to be home-made on-site and has some square nails in it that were from that period. Square nails used from the late 1700’s until about 1830. One of the nice design elements is the “Shield Shaped Medallion” in the center front that once was decorated with the family coat of arms or name. You could place yours there. The mantel is in good “restorable” condition and has wonderful patina so you could use it as a decorator piece as-is. It does have a couple of cracks in the front that can be repaired during any restoration. The mantel measures 48 ½ inches tall, 56 ½ inches wide (at top cap), with the top cap measuring 9 ½ inches front to back at the center. The interior arch opening measures 36 ¾ inches tall and 27 ¾ inches wide.
