Description

Sony Grand WEGA 55” LCD Rear Projection HDTV and Matching Sony TV Stand. Originally purchased in October 2005, TV from HH Gregg for $2,649.87 and stand from Circuit City for $499.99 (not incl. tax). The TV has been worth every penny and honestly, I still think the picture quality is just as good, if not better than current model HDTVs. The sound quality definitely is, since the TV is not aimed to be the thinnest out there and includes speakers that actually have some depth/bass. The reason I’m parting ways is simply because I’m ready for a larger screen, but less bulky TV and one that has smart features built-in. The only trouble I’ve ever had out of the TV was with a thermal fuse, which was a known issue a few months after I bought it. I got the replacement to have on hand and it still took until 2014 and sitting it near a heat vent in a house with a gas furnace to finally cause the fuse to blow. I replaced it and it has worked flawlessly since. The TV also uses projection lamps that will not last the life of the TV. I went ahead and replaced the lamp last week so that whoever might buy it wouldn’t have to deal with it for several years. The TV stand is in near perfect condition. Included with the TV and stand, I have the original remote and user manual, as well as the service manual in PDF. Also, unless the buyer doesn’t want it, I am including the TrippLite battery backup/surge/power supply. While not likely with newer lamps, the battery backup helps keep the TV on and fan running during power failure so that the lamp can cool properly and not burst.
