Description

Beautifully crafted antique drop-front secretary desk with serpentine drawers, featuring rich solid wood construction, elegant curved lines, and original brass hardware. This is a rare and highly functional antique that combines the storage of a dresser with the utility of a writing desk. The upper section opens to reveal a fully fitted writing interior with multiple letter slots, turned interior columns, a small center cabinet, and hidden storage compartments. The original working key is included, which is a major value add for collectors. The lower portion features three deep, curved drawers with classic Chippendale-style brass pulls, providing excellent storage. The piece rests on original casters, making it easy to move while preserving its period authenticity. Crafted in what is most likely solid mahogany or walnut, this piece dates to the Colonial Revival period (approximately 1920s–1940s) and showcases the high-quality joinery and materials typical of early 20th-century American furniture. The interior still retains its original warm wood finish, and the exterior shows a beautiful aged patina. Condition Very good antique condition consistent with age. Some light surface wear and patina from normal use, but no major structural damage. All drawers open smoothly, and the drop-front functions properly. Interior is especially clean for its age. Estimated Age Circa 1920s–1940s (Early American Colonial Revival period) Approximate Dimensions • 30.5” wide • 40.25” tall • 16.5” deep (longest) Drawer dimensions • 27” wide drawers • 14” deep drawers • 5” tall drawers • 20” desk depth when opened
