Description
1995 Gulfstream 102 Ultra Limited Edition class C RV. The 102 is the widest RV available that can be legally driven on public roads without a wide load permit. The extra 6 inches of width over standard Class Cs makes a big difference in the usable interior space. The Gulfstream is built on a Ford E350 one ton chassis. The power train is a 460cid Ford big block mated to a three speed automatic transmission with an overdrive. The RV has 81000 miles on the odometer and that's the correct mileage. The unit has a propane furnace, stove, hot water heater and frig (both also run on electric if selected). A rooftop A,/C does a great job cooling the interior. There is an aftermarket microwave installed above the stove in the original position. The holding tanks for grey water, black water, portable water and the kitchen water are all in good condition and the gauges indicating volume in the tanks all work. The interior finishes and upholstery are in good condition overall especially considering the age of the unit. The RV has new front brakes including pads and rotors. The abs sensor on the driver's side front needs a replacement. The rear brakes are about 50% remaining. The tires are newer with about 75% tread remaining. All RVs of this class and vintage leak! Don't fall for the "never leaked and the roof was just sealed" testimony. The seller may be making an honest statement as far as they know but if the ceiling was removed there will be wet areas. The water damage is not showing up on the ceiling panels...yet. Having said that here is what I know about the leaking on this unit... The previous owner of the Gulfstream replaced the floor. The rest of the structure is original. There are several issues with the roof and walls. The roof has been sealed with tape made specifically for RV membrane roofs around the outside perimeter. The roof doesn't leak now but has previously. This past leakage resulted in water damage to the plywood sheeting forming the roof deck and the area around the front overhanging loft compartment and front window. The unit also has some water damage to the wooden structure around the rear cargo doors on the driver's side. The latches for all the cargo doors have been removed and replacements need to be installed. The rear 4" square tubing bumper is bent on the passenger side, the result of jack knifing a small flatbed trailer while backing up. The fiberglass has a 4-5 inch damaged area where the bumper made contact with the body. There is another damaged area on the rear panel about the same size about midway up the sidewalk on the driver's side. Although the RV has a frame of square aluminum tubing wood was used to surround the tubing around the perimeter of the cargo doors. This was to facilitate attaching the cargo door frames and siding. The wooden portion of the frame is water damaged at the rearmost compartment on the driver's side. Other things that are in need of repair are as follows... The electric step that extends at the RV door needs rewired The door needs a lock, deadbolt above the primary door latch The ignition lock set is not the proper assembly. The switch is fine you just need the lock cylinder for the key The propane stove needs replacement and a good used unit will be provided The bathroom door needs a new lock set/doorknob The overhead cabinet for the TV needs repair Interior 12 volt light bulbs are needed in most of the fixtures The left turn signal is not operational in the back, either a relay or the switch assembly on the steering column is suspect An attempt was made by some misguided individuals to steal the catalytic converter. The converter is still there but has been sawed of on both ends. The exhaust system needs to be reconnected. We drove the RV to Virginia from Washington about 4 years ago. That is about 3000 miles on way. It performed perfectly. No issues with any systems. The furnace even kept the unit warm the night in January when we did an overnight parked on the Continental Divide in Wyoming. If you are not familiar with gas engines in RVs know that 6-7 miles per gallon is typical and the Gulfstream is no exception. These styles of RVs have the aerodynamics of a brick and the only way to make a 460cid engine efficient is not to start it! The price reflects the condition and is likely a little low compared to what I am seeing posted here and other places. With a bit of work and if you are handy with some tools you can definitely have a good class C for a fraction of the going prices.
