Description

This is an early 20th Century century officer's "Cabinetta" folding campaign bed, this dates to early 1900s, likely WW1 and Boer War. It doubles as a bench seat when folded, and a drop down door on the top that doubles as a headboard when the bed is open. When closed the area underneath can store a pillow and blankets. Inside the top door is a lovely gold label from the maker naming it as:"Cabinetta"W&Sreg no. 671701/3-682827 The logo depicts the trade mark of three wales, indicating the maker "W&S Wales". I believe they were used during World War 1 and the Boer war. These beds would have been for higher ranking officers who probably wouldn't have carried them around themselves. The bed has seen use over the years, and the condition reflects that. There are two canvas straps designed to hold the headboard in place when opened out. It still has the original canvas & folds down well. Some of the can as fittings that secure the canvas to the frame are broken. It seems like there was an attempt to repair it at some point but it was not done professionally. I think this would make a lovely restoration project. don't think it needs a lot, just a good polish and some attention to the details. Price reflects condition
