Carved wood and with sturdy tight intricate metal wires the door opens. No damage on wires all is good no damage of anything being broke ITS FABULOUS AND INTRICATE DETAIL OUTSTANDING !!!It’s absolutely gorgeous. It is 100 years old. Designs carved into the wood in front zoom in on pics ITS HEAVEY and the bottom has a metal tray for liners etc so cage can be cleaned.. we never did use it as a bird cage I have a lot of real doves but we built a big aviary after I bought it.. it is dusty on the bottom so you will need to wipe the tray off ..I do have another one listed that is smaller with different design Thank you for looking Remember if it calls to you and draws you in then it’s FOR YOU!
