Description
Rare Antique Ewing McLean Double Box Wood Wall Crank Telephone Greencastle Indiana Description: Presented for your consideration is neat Antique Ewing Mclean Wood Wall Telephone. This telephone is a very rare telephone manufactured by Mclean Electric from Greencastle Indiana in the early 1900's. It is a double box telephone with the ringer box mounted to the top and a writing / battery box mounted on the bottom. The cabinet is constructed of a oak wood with a long arm transmitter. The cabinet of this telephone features a very stunning natural oak grain and also features dovetail construction. Many of the parts are true Mclean parts. Internally is a 4 bar chrome magneto as seen in all Mclean telephones that when cranked rings the bells rather nicely. The receiver is an unusual bakelite receiver with the terminals protruding out of the top. The telephone is in nice condition and looks beautiful overall. The finish does exhibit loss in areas and this telephone does exhibit wear associated with age such as scratches and patina. The bakelite mouthpiece does exhibit chipped edges. The mouthpiece is loose and does not thread to the transmitter correctly so thread tape has been used to ensure a tight fit. It measures approximately 32" tall x 12" wide x 8" deep. It is a beautiful old telephone. Will trade for silver and gold coins or bullion.
