80’s Sims snowboard signed by Tom Sims. Tom Sims (December 6, 1950 – September 12, 2012) was an American athlete, inventor, and entrepreneur. Sims was a World Snowboarding Champion (1983), World Champion Skateboarder (1975), and founder of SIMS Snowboards and SIMS Skateboards. He was the pioneer of modern freestyle snowboarding and this board reflects the evolution of the snowboarding innovation of that era. As Binding development evolved Sims went to hand bent plastic and straps. This rare 2 piece binding was a transition to full baseplate bindings. This set is a fine example of the era with original Sims Velcro straps, everything on this board is original and authentic. The stainless steel fins are in great condition and has all three fins.
