When I purchased this beautiful 100 yr old dresser it was in rough shape. The good news is that all the structural pieces were in great shape, but when you got to the exterior it was a mess. I had to start by giving this piece a very thorough cleaning. Then the sanding began and seemed to last forever lol. Once all of that was done the piece had to be cleaned once again so that none of the old paint flakes or dirt would get in or on it’s new paint job. Once I finally picked out a stain color for the top, I went to work finding a color I felt looked period specific to the piece as well as something that would still look phenomenal today. I felt the color I found really pulled both of my goals off for this dresser and I couldn’t have been happier. Oh Wait, I was pretty happy when I somehow stumbled onto 6 glass drawer pulls that I had been told by almost every store you can imagine that they no longer make the real glass pulls. Well, I guess they were wrong and boy am I sure glad they were because this piece just wouldn’t have worked with anything else. Finally, I stencilled the gold leaf butterflies onto the front from aprox the bottom left all the way to the top right. I think those really knocked this entire project out of the park. This is an awesome piece and would work great for anyone wanting a beautiful addition to the home. Let me know if you fall in love with this baby like I did. Thanks for looking.
