Description

Beautiful antique trunk attained at an estate sale a couple years ago that I lucked out (as will you) at purchasing far under-priced for its value, as even the prices for this age and condition of this type of antique trunk run for over $1000. It is in good condition with the wheels (slowly) still turning. However, both leather carrying straps are torn off, and unfortunately I don't have the key to the lock. Truly, its beautiful and I love it... but it is a rather big piece Measurements: The length is 3 ft with a height of 24.5 inches and a width of 20 Consulted 2 antique dealers, this is what they could tell me about the product (Copied from one of their emails) but they gave the same information: McNamara was one of over a dozen trunk makers in Chicago that made this style trunk. They made very good quality trunks, such as these canvas covered flat top dress trunks. I don't have the exact years they were in business but this trunk was made sometime between about 1890 to as late as about 1920. Most likely from about 1895 to 1915. That hardware was used by many trunk makers and for many years. It's great that the trunk has the original tray with the hat holder and the tag and label. It does appear to be in good condition and more complete than many with the original tray.
