Description

Antique Brunswick horizontal console floor phonograph, Model # RA, in working condition. It stands about 34" tall, and measures about 39" x 21" at the widest part of the lid. There is a gold "Brunswick - The Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co." decal behind the tone arm bracket, and a circular metal tag on the turntable deck that says "The Brunswick. All Phonographs in One. Model RA. Number 128520 and a bunch of patent dates, the most recent being illegible but in the 1920's. Also, under the turntable, is a large gilt decal with another list of patent dates, the last one being 1922. Also mounted in or attached to the turntable deck are three needle cups, one being hooded and removable; and a slow-fast adjustment dial. The 12" turntable is covered in green felt or baize that is not only faded and worn, but also totally separated from its metal base. The only test that I've put it through is to wind it up and see how well it plays a regular 78 RPM record. It played a whole 10" record without showing any signs of slowing down, you can open it up and perform a general oiling and greasing for improved performance. You should probably do that anyway. The reproducer is one of those complex Brunswick things that has three styli and three positions for the three different styles of record groove - Pathe, Edison Diamond Discs and regular 78's. We don't have any Pathe or Edison 78's so we haven't been able to run those tests. I have only tested it in the regular position. Cabinet-wise, it has decoratively turned legs and cross-braces, and a decorative grille. I don't believe the grille cloth is original, but you never know - it's nice and faded from age.I otherwise in great shape, apart from some surface nicks and scratches here and there. The record storage spaces on either side of the speaker are solid and functional, If there are any records shown in the pictures, they are...
